Cantata Editions

Discover beautifully prepared editions of seventeenth- and eighteenth-century vocal music, created with performers in mind. Our catalogue brings together cantatas, arias, sacred works and instrumental music by celebrated composers and lesser-known masters.

Each digital edition is carefully prepared from original manuscripts or contemporary sources, with editorial changes clearly identified. Browse by composer, voice, instrumentation, genre or theme, and find music ready to explore, rehearse and perform.

Founded in 1998, Cantata Editions and its affiliates make available the research, PDF editions and transcriptions of a number of musicologists and performers around the world. We specialise in publishing digital editions of 18th Century vocal music which are difficult to find or have not been reproduced in modern editions.

Our main focus is on the music of Nicola Porpora, Francesco Mancini, Giovanni Bononcini, Leonardo Leo and of course Domenico and Alessandro Scarlatti. We invite submissions for inclusion from anyone interested in the field and encourage discussion of issues concerning the genre.

All of our PDF editions are based upon the original manuscripts or contemporary copies/printings and editorial changes are clearly marked so that performers are able to make informed choices in preparing the works.

Each listing in the Catalogue:

  • Has a preview of the music in PDF form
  • Comes with score and parts (where appropriate)
  • Is immediately available after purchase.

We invite you to enter and make your own contribution to the world of this great vocal music!
